Start with the visit of the main residence of the Ottoman dynasty, the magnificent Topkapi Palace which is the standing witness of glorious but secret and intriguing lives of the Ottoman sultans. It is now a museum notable not only for its architecture and collections but also for the history and the culture of the Ottoman Empire that it recalls. Following lunch at a local restaurant, take a stroll through the once glorious Roman Hippodrome which accommodates the ancient Egyptian Obelisk and the Serpentine Column. Besides being an arena of chariot races, it was employed for public events such as parades, meetings and festivals as well. Next, admire a masterpieceof the Byzantine architecture, the 6th - century Hagia Sophia which has been revered as the largest and the most important Christian place of worship in the world for many centuries. It was designed to be the major basilica of the Byzantine Empire and held the record for the largest dome in the world until the Duomo was built in Florence in the 15th century. Get a delightful walk through gardens and proceed to the imperial Blue Mosque which dominates Istanbul’s majestic skyline with its elegant composition of ascending domes and six slender soaring minarets. The careful choreography of more than 20,000 Iznik tiles rise from the mid-sections of the mosque and dazzle the visitors with their brilliant blue and turquoise hues which lend the mosque its popular sobriquet. Its unique beach and heavenly view makes the area exceedingly popular and one of the most photographed beach of the world. You will have lunch on the deck. In the course of your cruise, you will be able to swim in crystal clear waters and explore the most beautiful bays of Oludeniz such as Blue Cave where the water literally turns into bright blue in certain hours of the day, the Butterfly Valley that provides a relaxing trekking with a glimpse of endemic Tiger butterflies and the St.Nicholas Island where you can trace the steps of Christianity. Breakfast will be at the hotel. You will hit the road to Bodrum, another touristic heaven on the southwest coast which was described as the land of the eternal blue by Homeros. Once called Halicarnassus, the town was home to the Mausoleum of Mausolus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Upon arrival, discover first its imposing castle which was constructed by the Knights of Rhodes in the 15th century during the crusades and later named as the Castle of St Peter. It is a magnificent example of a Gothic style stronghold where you can walk through the twisting passageways and towers designed to make the castle difficult to invade. Today, many of the vast halls inside the castledisplay the exhibits of Bodrum's Underwater Archaeology Museum. The layout of the exhibits is clearly organized, and the dazzling artifacts are complemented by slick multimedia displays. You will certainly marvel at its huge amphorae collection and specially the Uluburun Wreck which is the museum’s crowning glory. Breakfast will be at the hotel. You will depart for Pamukkale, also known as Cotton Castle. This spectacular natural phenomenon was created by deposits of thermal waters that cascaded down the mountain side over thousands of years, forming myriad pools and terraces. Once you arrive, have lunch at a local restaurant and next, get entertained by wandering around the fantasy land of cotton-white calciumcarbonate travertines. Later, visit the Greek period city of Hierapolis which was founded by the second king of Pergamon in 190 BC. The extensive ruins of the site are well worth exploring and include a theatre, temple, holy area, monumental fountain, bath, basilica and necropolis.
